Negative impacts of fast food

Fast food has negative impacts on our physical and mainly on our health.

  • Physical :

The negatives consequences of fast food are caused by a too rich food high in fat. The food is also too rich in salt, in sugar, in chemicals and low in fiber and in vitamins. Example with this basic meal containing a Big Mac, medium fries and a Coca-Cola drink of 40 cl : nutritionists say that this menu brings us 51% of our daily calorie requirement. It's why people who eat regularly in fast food restaurants take weight.

  • Health :

Fast food has negatives consequences on our health. Scientists say that fast food can cause several diseases like cancers, diabetes, heart diseases and especially obesity. Many studies have also demonstrated that eating fast food 2 or 3 times a week can lead to addiction . So, when you stop eating fast food, your body is lacking, which can cause sleep disorders. It also has been proven  that 70% of food poisoning linked to fast food are due to meat because there are lots of chemicals to preserve it longer and even to increase the flavor. But fast food restaurants try to make efforts. Indeed, they create bio menus for adulte and children.

Should we stop eating fast food ?

Fast food can become dangerous only if you eat it too often (several times per week). This does not mean that you should no longer eat fast food. Eating fast food from time to time will not be dangerous and will not affect your health.
So you can continue to make you happy going to eat fast food and share a good time of fun and relaxation with your friends and your family.

Help: chemicals = produits chimiques ; calorie requirement = besoin en calories ; heart diseases = maladies cardio-vasculaires ; to lead = mener ; to be lacking = manquer ; poisoning = intoxication ; from time to time= de temps en temps

Why do people like so McDonald's ? / How does McDonald's attract his customers ?

There are several reasons :

  • People like McDonald's because this food mode makes one think of childhood. In McDo, we are very quickly served and we eat soft and fat like babies. And like children we eat with fingers, we nibble, we enjoy sweet and sour sauces, we drink through a straw and it is why millions of addicts come back every day.

  • McDonald's harmonizes his decors and his menus with the different cultures. For exemple, McDonald has invented hamburgers with "halal meat" in countries where people don't eat pork. McDonald always invent new meals to have more clients. So McDo makes menus with vegetables, fruits, mineral water and products of warranty origins. McDonald's try to adapt to the different cultures and to the local tastes and people enjoy that.

  • McDonald want to attract families and targets children. The McDonald clown appeared in 1963, followed by the "Happy Meal" menu and plastic toys. In restaurants, there are also built-in games where children can have fun. Children love these concepts and drive the rest of the family to go to McDonald's.

  • People like also McDonald's because it allows to spend good time with family and to make good memories.
  • Restaurants have drive-in and that allow customers to order and to be served without leaving car.
  • They also created McCafé. There we can have breakfast or we can make a break and eat or drink something. Indeed they have a variety of quality coffees and refined cakes and pastries.
  • Moreover, wifi is free in the restaurants. It attracts also studients, young people and people who travel.

Development of fast food restaurants

Fast food restaurants have been created for over a century now. They appeared in the USA with the creation of the first Mc Donald's in 1937. Then, fast food restaurants have been developped and multiplied on the american continent. It is why we can say that Mc Donald's is the launcher of a long food chain which are derived from it.
